At predetermined intervals, all regional databases can synchronize with the enterprise master server to ensure that the most up-to-date information is available at all locations. In an OnGuard multi-server environment, each cardholder can carry a single credential that can be used across all regions within the enterprise. Regional system administrators can specify the individual readers to which a cardholder will be allowed access. For example, a particular employee might be allowed free access to an entrance or his specific work area, but might have restricted access to stored precious metals, expensive equipment or highly sensitive areas.

OnGuard’s mustering feature uses entry and exit readers in specific locations to provide an automated method of accounting for on-site cardholders in the event of a dangerous incident. Another important OnGuard feature that’s beneficial for high-risk environments is destination assurance, which generates an alarm if an access card has not been presented at a specified reader or readers within a predetermined length of time.
