Lenel Advances Identity Life Cycle Management Solutions

ROCHESTER, NY, Paradigm 2007, June 11, 2007 — Lenel Systems International announced today the incorporation of Microsoft’s .NET 3.0 Windows Workflow Foundation into its IdentityDefender secured credentialing system. Inclusion of Microsoft .NET 3.0 Framework will help automate each step in the IdentityDefender workflow model for issuing secure IDs to employees. Lenel, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

“IdentityDefender is an advanced identity life cycle management solution for both the commercial and government marketplaces. The addition of Microsoft’s new .NET 3.0 Windows Workflow Foundation will enable us to offer our customers a more smoothly integrated solution while also increasing productivity and enhancing processing accuracy. This solution is ideal for organizations in which controlled access to secured buildings as well as computers and networks is a priority,” said Michael Regelski, Chief Technology Officer for Lenel.

Innovations in Microsoft .NET 3.0 Windows Workflow Foundation helped provide the intensive workflow support needed for Lenel to deliver its advanced identity life cycle management solution for the commercial and government marketplaces. Government attention and regulation have highlighted a broader need in commercial markets, where a holistic approach to identity management in combination with holistic access management solutions would deliver high value.

Lenel has worked closely with Microsoft at the Microsoft Technology Center since 2006 to review strategies and solution development opportunities, including a new Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model, which delivers software updates via the Internet, enabling customers to receive updates faster, with less administrative overhead. The new model will target customers who want to streamline individual system services such as ID badge printing, and those who wish to outsource system management or administrative functions.

“Demands grow and evolve rapidly in the security marketplace, but customers can meet these challenges with high value solutions that combine Lenel’s depth of security experience with Microsoft’s platform innovation,” said Norm Thomas, Director of Business Development for Microsoft’s Professional Services Industry Solutions. “We are very excited to be working closely with the Lenel team as they continue their focus on advancing security solutions for customers worldwide.”

Lenel will introduce a technology roadmap outlining the company’s adoption of Microsoft .NET 3.0 at Paradigm 2007, the annual Lenel technology symposium for independent security consultants and specifiers. The symposium will also feature a keynote address by Jason De Lorme, ISV Architect for Microsoft, which will highlight Microsoft’s ongoing technology development roadmap.
