NEC's Fault Tolerant (FT) server is designed not to fail, rather than recover from failure. NEC designed the FT server with no single point of failure. All hardware is fully redundant within the chassis as each component runs in lockstep with its corresponding part. If hardware failure is detected, the part is immediately isolated while operation continues without interruption. Any hardware component, from memory, to chipset, to CPU can be easily hot-swapped to re-instate FT integrity. The system can be service without outage and customers themselves can perform immediate service without waiting for onsite support.
